The most wellknown Black Box (although it's orange) is the flight recorder placed in an aircraft for the "purpose of facilitating the investigation of aviation accidents and incidents."
My own interest in the Black Box starded a few years back, in 2012, when I found out that it initially was a frame used in engravings made by the italien artist Piroli (c. 1752-1824) after sketches by the german artist Rehberg (1758-1835). "All are of the ‘attitudes’ for which Emma Hamilton, the model, was celebrated throughout Europe. In her performances of these, which she first began about 1786, Emma adopted poses taken from classical sculpture or Renaissance paintings. At one point Sir William Hamilton, her husband, constructed a special box with a black border for her to pose in, to imitate more closely the appearance of a framed painting..." * And finally in "science, computing, and engineering, a Black Box is a device, system or object which can be viewed in terms of its inputs and outputs without any knowledge of its internal workings." Almost anything might be referred to as a black box: a transistor, an algorithm, or the human brain... |
Silent MusicLucifer: Lightbringer, dawnbringer & nightbringer personified, is a male figure bearing a torch.
The motif of a being striving for the highest seat of heaven only to be cast down to the underworld has its origins in the motions of the planet Venus. Lucifer thrives in both poetry & several myths. As well as in christian mythology where he fell from grace and became one of the fallen angels. We all have our flaws & scars so embrace the imperfect. Lucifer equals free will. Not to own. Not to have. Not to possess. PoetryStories |
